Original Medicare Parts A & B

There are several pieces to Medicare Coverage to know that are the main framework to the system itself. Those are Part A, B.

  • Part A- Hospital Coverage
  • Part B- Coverage for Doctor and Outpatient Care

Original Medicare Parts A & B will pay for much of your care after some deductibles and other expenses, however they don't cover all your expenses. Medicare supplements or Medicare advantage plans can help pay those healthcare expenses. See the Medicare Supplement Plans and Medicare Advantage for more information.

Medicare Part D - Drug Coverage

Medicare Part D is drug coverage. Original Medicare does not cover medications with a few exceptions.

Many plans are available. Every plan must cover drugs in each therapeutic category, however one may cover certain drugs better than another plan.

Tools such as Medicare.gov can help you find the plan best suited for you drug list and pharmacy choice.

Medicare Supplement Plans

These plans work hand in hand with Original Medicare Part A & B. After Medicare has paid, then the supplement will pay. Costs associated with each policy type are different.

For Example on a Plan G you will pay only the part B Deductible for the year before all of your medical expenses are covered. In 2022 that is $233.

Typically a person will pay more money per month for a supplement than for a Medicare advantage plan, however out of pocket costs after the premium are usually lower.

These can be used with any provider that accepts Medicare.

Drug Plans and Supplements

Drug plans may be purchased separately from a Medicare Supplement. They do not come together as they could in a Medicare Advantage Plan.

We'll help select the appropriate plan for your needs at no cost to you. We get paid by the companies you choose to work with.

Medicare Advantage

Medicare advantage plans are different from supplements. They are comparable to traditional health insurance with deductibles and copayments. There are also drug benefits that come with most Medicare advantage plans. They're often called Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans. A person with good health that's using very few medical services could save money using this kind of plan.

Think of these plans as a "pay as you go" policy. The savings comes in not spending extra money on the premiums that you could have spent on a Medicare Supplemental Policy. You only incur cost when you use services.

These plans use the health insurance company's network of doctors and facilities.
